Don't listen to the kids
I was looking through your reviews and saw words like rip off and uninspired. I guarentee all the people who said stuff like that haven't made a flash game in their life or they'd appreciate the work more. If this was a "ripoff" then you'd have stolent all the sprites and stuff from and old game. If this were "uninspired" then there wouldn't be cool scroller backgrounds and killer bosses. I love the nuances of how bosses rotate their cannons right before they fire their big laser.
Also, the people complaining that you only get one life obviously haven't played any old school shooters. The whole point is to keep playing the game until you figure out the upgrade pattern that fits your style and helps you beat the game.
Things I love include the great graphics, upgrade mechanics, nuances in boss battles, and slick interface screens.
The only problem I have with this is personal preference. The game seems to be in constant matrix esque bullet time. Other than that, this was a wonderful game and piece of art.
Don't mind the idiots on here who dismiss your flash; they haven't ever made anything themselves. Overall, this simple game was pretty neat. Although it seemed hard at first, I found that one particular angle and power choice would win missions 2 and then 3 till the end. If you ever made another game like this, I would like to see a way to exactly choose your power and angle. You could have a power meter going back and forth as well as an angle meter that you could control with the up and down arrow keys. Then, you would press the spacebar at the desired power level. Also, bigger is always better; it's be cool to see really long jumps and obstacles such as rings of fire. Again, cool flash, and I hope to see more of your work!
Wow, this is awesome!
I was appauled at some of the reviews you received. Some people on here are little more than grade schoolers apparently. You really did a great job on this. The deep customization and story cutscenes in the battles were really creative. So what if the graphics aren't on par with the latest Star Wars movie? They still are all lovingly drawn and scripted which shows brilliantly. Being a fellow artist, I really do appreciate the hard work you've put into this. It's people like you that keep me addicted to newgrounds! :D
thanks man. Dont worry: Its people like you (and myself) that make me do hard work and (who knows) make a sequel :P
Wow, great stuff man!
Being a fledgling flash author myself I really have alot of appreciation for some of the innovative things you did. Although Many other flashes do things along the lines of point-and-click, but you have a great sense of style and placement which makes what would be another boring flash into something that is truly enveloping. I always think a great game is something that draws emotions from you that normally wouldn't arise. You have achieved this, great job!
My advise would be to possibly put small glints and imperfections on important clicking spots (like the locations of the marbles) to help the flow of the story for the casual gamer. When I've made interactive things I've had to learn that what seems obvious to me, isn't so much for the casual gamer who has a short attention span. Great job none the less.
Great, but too hard for the casual gamer
The production values for this game are top notch dispite one spelling mistake in the FAQ section, but in the end it's just too hard to be fun, at least for me. For me, the whole point of tower defense games is to eventually get such a force that it gets relatively easy. This game, although phenominal in presentation and professionalism is too tedious for my tastes. Overall though, I know you busted your ass making this and I think it's one of Newground's best.
